Morocco Magic

My winning contest entry for Sketchoholic! The theme was "Street Magic", and there were some really awesome entries! This sketch was completed in about two hours. (I know, because the website had a countdown clock and everything...STRESSFUL!) After my frazzled attempt to get the drawing in on time, I got to listen to Pixar Animator, Everett Downing, drop some really great advice about the animation industry. Everyone should definitely check out his 365 Supers blog, there's a lot of banging character designs there!

By the by, my friend, Zane, had a top voted entry in the contest as well! I'm loving his flying bum!

...And by "bum" I mean "homeless man"! XD

Also, just for funsies...here are some fire bird designs I've been messing around with for the Nightmare Parade. Haven't really settled on anything just yet, but it was nice to take a break from drawing pretty ladies all day and try something different. I'm thinking about leaning more towards a fat a chubby bird. That way, you could squeeze them like a stress ball to make the flames come out. Ha ha ha!

  1. Oh my god!
    That is beautiful!

You need to print that out on some nice matte and sell it.
    Seriously.

And if I can vote on the firebird...
Definitely go the stubby chubby route.

  6. Your winning sketch looks fantastic, lady!
And I'm digging the chubby little bird on the upper right hand corner and the one underneath him that looks like he's wearing a maroon cloak.
