Next Victim

Character design for 2D Production class. Don't get too attached...sooner or later she's going to bite the dust.

Much Love

...For my best friend and familia. I was feeling pretty down and stressed out and they both (simultaneously) broke me out of it. The cure? Just a spoonful of motherliness and some wise words from my child hood hero.

Yeah, I'm a nerd. XD

After the heart to heart, I managed to get a little work done for my film...then my mind began to wander back into the realm of Halloween goodness, and I somehow managed to come up with this:

It's strange what just happens to pop up while you're sketching. I love my little pumpkin princess. I even made up a little Halloweeny story about her wanting to be turned into a real human girl. So...it's Pinocchio in a pumpkin patch?

I think we've got something here.

SO...I made a friend for my pumpkin girl. I haven't decided if I wanted to make him a cat with a hundred arms...or a cursed boy who just wants to be turned back into a cat. We will see. Still keeping with the creepy hand tree theme...because I like hands.

This is no good. My mind wanders too much for me to stay concentrated on one story. I just wish there were a way to document and develop all of my ideas to their fullest while throwing all of my heart and soul into my senior film. If only I could jot them all down in something like a sketchbook...

Or a blog.

Heh.

Sayonara, space fans! I'm hittin' the hay.

I Feel You Joanna

It's about 3am now and I'm sitting on my bed watching behind the scenes features of Sweeney Todd. Man, I completely forgot how awesome this movie was!The last time I watched it was...this past Halloween?

Speaking of...

I still haven't thought of a costume yet. :/

Not that I haven't been thinking long and hard about it!

This is what I do when my roommate is in class. Ha ha ha! I always like to do make up tests for elaborate costumes...that and face painting is just too much fun to pass up when you're bored. I don't think I'm going to be either of these characters for All-Hallows-Eve, but it was a lot of fun just to see how the make up would turn out.

Have any suggestions for the next trial? I'm thinking maybe Jack-O-Lantern head. O m O;

Sometime between painting myself like a skeleton and watching Johnny Depp shank Alan Rickman...I managed to get this out for my 2D Production class. We have to animate a three shot sequence with a character picking up a fruit. Random? Maybe a little bit... Either way, I'm still having a ton of fun coming up with different ideas and characters.

Until next time, space fans...stay classy!

...I really need to sleep now.

Key Poses!

Pulled my first all-nighter of the quarter! Apparently, half of my senior class did as well, but I missed out on it. Boo. Nonetheless, I somehow managed to finish all of the key frames for the film! They are still very rough, but it's a good start for now. You can check it out at the usual place if you're interested!

All of the backgrounds were done by the incredible Matt Doering, by the by! I feel incredibly blessed to have such a talented friend on my team. He's a super hero for sure, so make sure to take a gander at his work!

...

Can't think of much else to say right now, other than the fact that Jen and I are in desperate need of sleep.

So sweet dreams space fans! I'll be joining you in a few hours.

In the meantime, here are some pieces I've been working on for my 2D Production class.

Our first assignment was to do a photo-realistic rendering of some sort of background that we would later animate a bouncing ball in later. Since I've got nothing, but clocks on the brain right now, I figured I could get away with this.

I was sorely mistaken.

So take two. This is my "realistic" rendering of one of the backgrounds in my senior film.
CAN YOU GUESS WHICH ONE? O m O

Aaaand. Here's the "abstract" render! This was so much fun to do...even if it does look like an underwater sea adventure. Hopefully, the final film will look somewhat like this. Lots of textures and patterns and bright colors everywhere. Hold the sea water, please.

Gumbo!

First five minutes of the Princess and the Frog! Man, all of these clips really have me pumped for the final production. I literally have been needing to tear my eyes away from the screen so that I can focus on my own film!

...

Please excuse me while I geek out for the next day and a half. XD
